I Was Giving $2.5K To My Family Every Month. But Then, My Brother’s Family Told Me To Leave, Calling Me A “Joy Thief,” And My Mom Called Me A “Freeloader.” I Thought To Myself, “They’ll See…” And Then, Moving Day Came, He Learned Who Had Really Been Keeping Our Family Afloat

Ethan read the paperwork twice.

“No.”

“Yes.”

“You tricked us.”

“I saved the house.”

Mom appeared in the doorway.

“What is he talking about?”

Ethan looked at her.

“He owns it.”

Her eyes widened.

I stood.

“You both signed the refinancing documents.”

Mom looked confused.

“You said they were refinancing papers.”

“They were.”

Melissa grabbed the folder.

“You can’t just throw us out.”

“I’m not throwing Mom out.”

Relief flashed across Ethan’s face.

Then I continued.

“But the attorney handling the property will be here Saturday.”

“Why?”

I zipped my suitcase.

“Because Saturday isn’t only my moving day.”

I looked around the bedroom Melissa had already started measuring for yoga equipment.

“It’s yours too.”

Saturday morning, my attorney arrived.

Ethan tried to stop her at the door.

“This is a family matter.”

She smiled politely.

“Actually, it’s a property matter.”

Melissa rushed downstairs.

“You can’t make us leave without notice.”

“You received formal notice eighteen days ago,” my attorney said.

Ethan froze.

“What notice?”

She showed them the certified letters.

Melissa had signed for them herself.

“I thought those were advertisements.”
