A 284-Pound Biker Ripped A Crying Girl’s Backpack Off And Everyone Filmed Him

The biker in that viral video everyone keeps sharing? The one ripping a backpack off a screaming eight-year-old girl? I was standing ten feet away when it happened.

I was standing ten feet away when it happened.

Three million people have watched that clip. Three million people think they watched a grown man attack a child.

I need to tell you what the cameras missed.

My name is Denise Carter. I taught third grade in Chattanooga for eighteen years. The little girl in that video is Molly Turner, and she was in my class two years ago.

It was our library’s summer reading day. I was pouring lemonade at the refreshment table when I heard a motorcycle rumble into the lot.

The man who climbed off it was massive. The police report later said 284 pounds. Leather vest, gray beard, boots the size of toolboxes.

Molly stood near the curb with her pink backpack on. Her daddy gave her that bag for her eighth birthday. She was crying and pulling at the straps.

None of us moved. Kids cry at these things all the time. We thought she’d lost her mama in the crowd.

The biker thought something different.

He crossed that parking lot like a freight train. He grabbed her backpack with both hands and tore it clean off her body. Molly hit the pavement screaming.

Then he turned and hurled the bag across the road. It bounced twice and landed in the weeds.

That’s the part everybody filmed. That’s where every single video ends.

Here’s what happened after the cameras stopped.

The biker scooped Molly off the ground with one arm. He carried her back to the library steps and set her down behind him like she was made of glass.

Then he faced that backpack across the road, chest heaving, and bellowed at us to keep every child back.

A teenager laughed and kept his phone up. Called him unhinged. A man in a polo shirt said he was making a citizen’s arrest.

And then the backpack moved.

All by itself. In the weeds. Forty feet from any living soul.
